U of I Extension Posts Multiple SNAP-Ed Positions

The U of I Extension is hiring family and consumer science educators as part of its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education. An extension educator is responsible for organizing and conducting obesity prevention programs for limited-resource families and communities.

You will be developing partnerships with community organizations, providing technical assistance and working collaboratively with community partners, and providing professional development for organizations in communities within the assigned geographic area. Knowledge of how to initiate community and systems changes using evidence-based strategies for obesity prevention are essential for this position.

Currently, seven positions are available. These are regular, full-time, 12-month positions. Each educator is assigned to a specific geographic region in Illinois with an office in the region. Educators are required to hold a master’s degree in public health, community health, nutrition, dietetics or field related to the subject matter.

Candidates with a master’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date. Previous teaching experience in informal or formal settings and experience building collaborations or community partnerships are also required.

Seven full-time positions are currently available. Applications are due by October 7, 2022, but positions will remain open until filled.
