The training session includes harm reduction, the substance use recovery continuum and evidence-based substance use disorder treatment.
Harm reduction is an effect approach to problematic substance use, infectious disease and other conditions related to drug use. Harm reduction services can include syringe exchange, naloxone distribution, fentanyl testing strips, among others.
This training is sponsored by SUPR, the Substance Use Prevention and Recovery division of the Illinois Department of Human Services. The session will be presented by Nicole Gastala, MD, who serves as the SUPR medical director. Before coming to SUPR, Dr. Gastala developed a walk-in integrated behavioral health, addiction and primary care service within the Mile Square FQHC.
Attendance is free, but registration is required. CMEs and CEUs are available for a variety of health disciplines.
