Three high school students from Steeleville, Illinois, were recently able to explore various departments at Pinckneyville Community Hospital as part of a job shadowing experience organized by South Central AHEC.

Shadowing is a great way to experience a “day in the life” of a health care professional and learn about the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to work in that field. You observe their job tasks, see how interact with patients and other professionals to provide care, and get the opportunity to ask questions.

The Steelville students visited different areas of the hospital, including the social work, purchasing and emergency departments. Their learning experience through shadowing is one we hope will impact their future careers.
