The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program awards scholarships to health professions students who intend to work in an underserved area. The scholarship can lessen the burden of overwhelming financial debt.
Medical, dental, nursing, and physician assistant school students agree to work for a minimum of two years in an underserved community for one year of funding and one year of additional funding for each year of service they commit to for up to four years.
An award includes:
- Payment of tuition and eligible fees
- An annual payment for other reasonable educational costs
- Monthly stipends to assist with living expenses while pursuing your health professions degree.
Scholarship recipients who remain working at a NHSC approved location after completing their service and have remaining eligible debt can apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program with a priority designation.
The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program is a federal program administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Health Workforce.
Deadline: The application window for this program closes on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program is highly competitive, and applicants are encouraged to apply early.
