This year’s all-virtual conference of the Illinois Primary Health Care Association will be held Wednesday through Friday, October 28-30. Themed “A New Vision,” the event aims to build effective leaders, practitioners, and health centers.
Highlights of the three-day conference include presentations by former U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin and Maria Hinojosa, anchor and executive producer of NPR’s Latino USA. The keynote will be held on Friday by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with remarks on how community health centers can become change agents for racial equality and social justice.
Highlighted topics include health equity/social determinants of health, payment and service delivery transformation, behavioral health, COVID-19 Response, workforce development, and issues and eligibility for the 340B program. A workforce-oriented presentation will discusses the challenges for HR and nursing departments in staffing medical assistant positions and explore several strategies for a high-functioning MA workforce.
