High schoolers participated in hands-on learning activities that brought the medical field to life and gave them memorable glimpses into the wide range of health-related careers.
The Healthcare Careers Camp offered simulated work environments, career networking, a suture skills lab and other activities. Campers had opportunities for interaction with Memorial colleagues, college faculty and undergraduates, career assessments, and college preparatory activities to help them prepare for a variety of health education pathways.
Campers had fun networking with health care professionals and visiting ISU’s nursing campus in Springfield on the final day.
The free three-day event, presented by Central Illinois AHEC and Springfield Memorial Hospital, is the first of what are planned to be annual camps.
