South Central AHEC hosted a scrub exposure at Pinckneyville Community Hospital on April 10. Scrub exposures are typically half-day opportunities for groups of young students to visit a health facility to observe and learn from working professionals.
Students from Pinckneyville Community High School District #101 learned about careers in health care, met with hospital administration and human resources staff, and learned about financial aid resources from Rend Lake College financial aid department. Two physicians from the hospital led a fun suturing workshop, and staff from the Laboratory, Physical Therapy, and Nursing departments gave students an inside look into their work.
We are grateful to our presenters – ARCH Air Medical Service – Sparta, IL, Base, Perry County Counseling Center, Rend Lake College and of course our host, Pinckneyville Community Hospital – for taking time to share with the next generation details about your own career.
And thank you to our student participants for going the extra mile to expand your knowledge of health care careers. You are setting yourselves up for success!
If your hospital is interested in hosting a scrub exposure, please reach out to Gloria Przygoda (gprzygoda@pvillehosp.com).
