The South Central IL Area Health Education Center, hosted by SSM Health, has partnered with the Community Resource Center and the Marion County Coalition Against Drug Use to offer a mobile Hidden In Plain Sight room. This room offers a hands-on, interactive display of a bedroom which has hidden clues to drug use, including paraphernalia, signage, and shows how difficult some hiding places are for parents, guardians, or loved ones to find when they have a drug user in their home.
The program offers a valuable opportunity to teach members of the community what to look for if there is suspicion of drug use, or simply for education to add a tool to your parenting tool belt.
The Hidden In Plain Sight Room can be utilized at area events as well. For more information, on the Hidden In Plain Sight Room, or how you can be a part of the Marion County Coalition Against Drug Abuse, you can contact the Centralia Community Resource Center at 618-533-1391 or the South Central AHEC office at 618-899-1052.
