Dr. Ron Hershow, director of the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the UIC School of Public Health, will present a free webinar on the state of the coronavirus pandemic this month. The webinar, entitled “COVID-19: Looking Back and Looking Forward,” will provide an update and help us understand the data surrounding the pandemic.
Dr. Hershow has been involved in COVID-19 research and contact tracing in Chicago communities and on controlling the outbreak in local nursing homes and homeless shelters.
His research focus includes HIV as it affects women and substance users, viral hepatitis, particularly hepatitis C, and hospital-acquired infections focusing on antimicrobial resistant microorganisms. He has studied antiretroviral therapy in injection drug users in Indonesia, as well as fostering strategies to address the AIDS epidemic in China, Chile and Malawi.
