Memorial Hospital in Carthage Receives Prestigious Award - Memorial Hospital, West Central AHEC’s host institution, received the Outstanding Organization Award at the National Rural Health Association’s annual conference last week.
AHEC at Keokuk Health Careers Discovery Day - West Central Illinois AHEC teamed up with partners to put in an appearance the Health Career Discovery Day in Keokuk, Iowa, on April 17 to encourage students to explore work in health care careers.
West Central AHEC Visits Area Career Fairs - West Central AHEC was a presence at a number of career fairs in recent weeks, promoting health and health care careers to students and providing hands-on experience of common health care procedures.

Update: JDub Academy Health Events Canceled - Unfortunately, due to low registration volumes, the health-related JDUB classes for this summer have been canceled. We hope they will be available again next year.
Career Exploration for Grades 7-10 at Spoon River Campuses - Participants will hear from professionals and engage in hands-on activities that simulate real-life skills needed in a variety of medical careers.
Career Expo at Carl Sandburg College – Apr 5 - Save the date for Carl Sandburg’s 2023 Career Expo. More than a dozen health care employers are participating, including McDonough District Hospital, Memorial Hospital, OSF Healthcare and Unity Point Health as well as other organizations in the health field.
Youth Mental Health First Aid – Nov 11 - Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18.
BLS/CPR Certification Class – Aug 24 - The Hancock County Health Department is pleased to announce that on Wednesday, August 24 they will be offering a BLS/CPR Certification Class.
