Due to interest, this opportunity for health professions students to observe rural healthcare providers and their communities is now available on a continuous basis.
The three- to five-day immersion experience takes place in a rural community in Illinois. RHE students engage in shadowing multiple hospital departments such as EMT/ER, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, social work and behavioral health, and others. Basic housing and limited meals are provided.
This is a great opportunity for students interested in a short-term commitment to network with professionals and learn about the social and health characteristics, needs, and resources of a rural Illinois community.
Students of all health disciplines are encouraged to apply. You must have completed the sophomore year of undergraduate studies by the start of the program, and be able to provide their own transportation.
