The Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago seeks 20 full-time NHC Chicago AmeriCorps members to serve an average of 40 hours per week for the upcoming term, starting in August 2022.
NHC Chicago members serve 1700 hours during a 46-week term of service.
National Health Corps members provide services to:
- Decrease barriers for people who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, and hold other identities that have been historically under-represented in health leadership – including women, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disabilities – to become healthcare and/or public health leaders in the future.
- Decrease health disparities through addressing social determinants of health, including underlying structural oppression, in communities plagued by histories of racial and economic inequities.
- Improve organizational efficiencies, community engagement, and reach of services addressing social determinants of health.
The NHC’s mission is to foster healthy communities by connecting those who need it most with health and wellness education, benefits, and services, while developing tomorrow’s compassionate health leaders. NHC Chicago, a program of NHC, is administered by Health Federation of Philadelphia and implemented by PHIMC.
